City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong (CCOHK) collaborates with Ney Rosauro, the legendary Brazilian composer and percussionist, to bring his Brazilian folklore to the audiences. Ney Rosauro appears as both guest conductor and soloist in an exhilarating concert of his compositions, showcasing local percussion virtuosos. Fiona Foo performs Ney Rosauro's Concerto No.1 for Marimba and Orchestra, known as the most popular marimba concerto of all time. Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra’s principal timpanist James Boznos and the award-winning Hong Kong marimba player Elise Liu join forces for the Hong Kong premiere of Ney Rosauro's Double Concerto for Timpani and Marimba. To complement an evening of energising rhythms, CCOHK performs pieces by the great Villa-Lobos, and to round off the night, Ney Rosauro delivers cool vibes in his Brazilian Suite.
