The Special Exhibition ‘Picasso for Asia: A Conversation’ is the first major showcase of Picasso’s works in Hong Kong in over a decade. More than 60 masterpieces by Picasso will be on loan from the Musée national Picasso-Paris. They will be placed in conversation with around 130 pieces from the M+ Collections by 30 Asian artists from the early twentieth century to the present.

The 2025 French May Arts Festival takes ‘Vive L’art’ as its theme to celebrate the enduring artistic wonders of French culture and heritage, as well as the ever-growing connection and exchange between Hong Kong and France. The programme is packed with cultural events ranging from dance and theatre to music and art exhibitions. The festival offers a myriad of cultural experiences, embarking on a sensory journey through sights and sounds.

Popular culture is an indispensable part of life that often stimulates vitality and creativity. Hong Kong’s pop culture draws inspirations from humour, a consistent trendsetter that has left a profound mark on the city’s rich and colourful cultural landscape. The ‘Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival 2025’, themed ‘More Than Joy’, offers not only joy and laughter but also an opportunity to appreciate how pop culture can be transmitted and transformed, highlighting possibilities for integration and breakthroughs. This third festival features a diverse range of programmes including stage performances, film screenings, thematic exhibitions and outreach activities.

One of the highlights, Comics Fun Experience Gallery is not to be missed. The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through these classic comic and animation characters, highlighting their deep-rooted influence on Hong Kong’s cultural landscape. The exhibition features themed photo spots where iconic characters appear in comic-style settings infused with distinctive Hong Kong elements, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the world of comics and take pictures with their favourite characters. The exhibition will continue at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza until 7 May, and then move to Event Space 1.1, VESSEL, Kwun Tong, for display from 10 to 29 May 2025.

The first in-gallery multimedia exhibition featuring treasures from The Palace Museum. Employing cutting-edge technologies and digital techniques, it presents the diverse and meaningful artistic patterns inherent in the museum’s ancient architecture, ceramics, furniture and textiles. This exhibition reveals the timeless allure of China’s exceptional traditional culture in a contemporary format, fostering the integration of heritage with innovative technology while emphasising the inheritance and evolution of Chinese civilisation.

The Inaugural 'Hong Kong ICH Month' highlights the theme ‘ICH Around Town’ with a series of activities designed to promote and enhance awareness of our rich intangible cultural heritage. Programme highlights include carnivals and fun days across various districts in Hong Kong, ICH Highlights Tours in six handpicked districts and the tentative exhibition titled 'Genesis and Spirit – Treasures of Nature · Extraordinary Hakka: Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition of Jiangxi', featuring a selection of ICH items related to Hakka culture in the province.

An array of programmes will be featured in the ‘Chinese Culture Festival 2025’, including the opening dance performance Dongpo: Life in Poems, the ‘Chinese Opera Festival’, exemplary local arts projects recognised by the China National Arts Fund, performing arts programmes from arts and cultural organisations, as well as film screenings, exhibitions and talks.

ICHO collaborates with the Hong Kong Tourism Board to organise 'ICH Highlight Tours' in the Yau Tsim Mong District for tourists, allowing them to explore Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH)-related traditional craftsmanship or other items, and to feel the richness and diversity of ICH.

ICH items include techniques for making steamers, jewellery, chopping boards, Mahjong tiles, preserved meat and Hong Kong-style milk tea, as well as methods for wood carving, jade carving and preparing pork knuckles with ginger and vinegar for postpartum confinement, along with a visit to Yau Ma Tei Tin Hau Temple.

This year, a brand-new format of the volleyball tournament will be staged. The five-day competitions will feature six national teams, including China, Italy, Japan, Thailand, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria, competing in 12 matches.

The International Arts Carnival (IAC) returns to bring a summer filled with creativity, inspiration and unforgettable moments! This year, the fair's theme is 'Food Culture • Future Living', featuring seminars with renowned authors from around the world, a diverse range of cultural activities and the 'World of Art and Culture' zone, all designed to inspire the public to explore the world through reading.

This July, four of the world’s top football clubs, Liverpool FC, AC Milan, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, are set to make history at the Hong Kong Football Festival 2025 (HKFF), hosted at Kai Tak Stadium, the city’s newest hub for Asia’s mega events. Football fans in Hong Kong and across the region will witness two blockbuster matches at HKFF 2025.
