If you feel unwell or test positive for Covid-19

  • No quarantine is required for Covid-19 patients.
  • You are advised to adopt health measures for preventing respiratory diseases, such as observing personal hygiene, reducing contact with others without wearing masks, opening windows to ensure adequate ventilation for your accommodation, as well as keeping the environment clean.

  • If you require medical care, you may visit any of the private medical practitioners listed on the Government’s websites for the prescription of COVID-19 oral drugs and further assistance.

If you are experiencing emergency symptoms at any point in time, call 999 for emergency services.

Visit the Hong Kong Government’s website for more details.

Public toilets

Hong Kong maintains a high standard of facilities to better protect public health. Public toilets and hand sanitiser can be found at most tourist sites and in shopping malls. Get a full list of public toilets in Hong Kong here. You can also download the Toilet Buddy app, which is the ultimate toilet guide for Hong Kong that can always show you the nearest toilets, with facilities and comments!

Keep Hong Kong clean

Hong Kong has strict laws about maintaining environmental hygiene, including fixed penalty fines of HK$3,000 for littering or spitting.

To keep our city clean and preserve the natural and beautiful scenery, please put your litter in the bin or take it with you.

Smoking restrictions

Smoking is prohibited in all indoor public places in Hong Kong, including restaurants, bars, malls and karaoke venues. The smoking ban is also implemented on public transport carriers, within public transport facilities, and in both the indoor and outdoor areas of some premises, including public beaches and swimming pools, escalators, and inside the Hong Kong Wetland Park.

Furthermore, no person may import, promote, manufacture, sell, or possess for commercial purposes alternative smoking products, including electronic smoking products, heated tobacco products and herbal cigarettes. Please click here for further details.

Any person smoking or carrying a lighted cigarette, cigar, or pipe in a designated no-smoking area will be liable to a fixed penalty of $1,500. Please click here for further details and to download your copy of the Designated No Smoking Area Guide.
