Knowing that every precaution has been taken to ensure your safety throughout the trip, including full vaccination of all crew and passengers*, offers extra peace of mind. Things to know before cruising

To enjoy a cruise experience from Hong Kong, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (at least 14 days have elapsed between the final required vaccine dose and embarkation) before boarding a cruise ship, unless you meet certain exemptions [Note 1]

To book a designated cruise, please check the official websites of cruise lines or their preferred sales agents in Hong Kong.

  • You’re required to take a PCR test for COVID-19 at a recognised testing facility within 48 hours prior to boarding and present a negative test result.
  • Please ensure the name on the test report is identical to the name on your valid travel document. The report should state the test method (PCR) and the date and time of your specimen collection.
  • Tests for unvaccinated passengers must be done with swab samples while those for vaccinated passengers should be done with swab or Deep Throat Saliva (DTS) samples. For children aged below 6, stool tests are also accepted as an alternative of swab tests.

Please download the app on your mobile phone or tablet so you can scan the LeaveHomeSafe QR code before boarding [Note 2]. Make sure you retain the app for 31 days after the cruise.

  • Please observe social distancing, as directed by staff at the cruise terminal, and always wear a mask.
  • Present your vaccination record or medical proof during check-in and complete your temperature check before boarding.
  • You should sign an undertaking that you will comply with the infection prevention and control measures imposed on board in accordance with the prevailing legislative requirements and health directions.

3. While you’re on board

  • You must always wear a mask in public areas of the ship. Please use a hand sanitiser often and maintain social distancing.
  • Fill in the self-record sheet provided by your cruise line for daily temperature checking and symptom screening.
  • Report any symptoms of COVID-19 immediately to ship medical staff.

  • All food and beverages will be served by crew members. Self-service buffets will not be available.
  • To ensure social distancing, guests will be seated with ample spacing.

You must wear a mask in most of the entertainment and sports facilities. Only a few activities, such as swimming, will be mask-free but capacity will be restricted.

4. Disembarking the ship

  • You must complete and submit the online ‘Health and Quarantine Information Declaration’ form before check out.
  • Please ensure the email and mobile phone number you provide on the form are accurate and functioning.
  • After submitting the form, you’ll receive a QR code, which is valid for 48 hours and required for immigration.

  • You are encouraged to make an electronic payment to minimise physical contact with staff.
  • Check out times will be staggered to avoid congestion.
Don’t forget to keep the app!

You must keep the LeaveHomeSafe app on your phone for at least 31 days after your cruise for contact tracing if necessary.
