Recognised with a 2000 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Outstanding Project Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation
On the island of Kau Sai Chau, in the blissful Sai Kung, sits Hung Shing Temple. The temple can be traced back to 1889, when it was built to worship Hung Shing, the God of the South Sea. A declared monument, it was successfully revived in 2000 and is the winner of a UNESCO restoration award.
