HKTB Strategic Initiatives

In 2024/25, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) fully strived to realise the vision of “Tourism is Everywhere” in Hong Kong through five strategic initiatives. Combining mega events, diverse tourism experiences and innovative promotions, HKTB demonstrated Hong Kong’s tourism appeal to the world and created more reasons for visitors to come to Hong Kong and revisit.

DRIVING “EVENTS + TOURISM”

HKTB proactively staged flagship events with international influence, while supporting and promoting various large-scale events in town, to implement the strategy of “Mega Events + Tourism” and reinforce the city as “Events Capital of Asia” by driving tourism interests with events, thereby elevating Hong Kong’s metropolitan vibrancy and global visibility.

Crafting Unique Tourism Experiences

Hong Kong boasts a wealth of tourism elements, from its East-meets-West cultures and accessible natural outdoor experiences to its myriad festivals and events, ensuring year-round excitement. HKTB continued to curate and reimagine these unique elements to create distinctive travel experiences to inspire visitors to explore Hong Kong and expand their travel footprints to different neighbourhoods and beyond traditional attractions to bring to life the concept of “Tourism is Everywhere”.

Stepping Up Global Promotions

HKTB leveraged its worldwide networks and new media channels to produce interactive and engaging contents to maximise the publicity effect globally, telling the stories of Hong Kong tourism.

Everyone is a Tourism Ambassador

HKTB worked closely with the tourism sector and the community to elevate visitor experiences and service quality so as to effectively deliver Hong Kong’s hospitality spirits to visitors. At the same time, HKTB deepened the younger generations’ understanding towards the tourism industry through HKTB Youth Academy, with an aspiration to nurture new, young talents for the industry.

Catalysing Target Segment Growth

HKTB swiftly adjusted its promotional strategies to capture the ever-changing market trends and new behaviour of visitors to dedicate its resources to attract visitor segments with great potential. These include emerging segments, meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) visitors, and cruise travellers, pursuing development in both quantity and quality for Hong Kong’s tourism industry.
