M+ and Powerhouse present a new M+ Facade commission, Dancer in the Mirror Field (2025), by artist Ayoung Kim. A speculative fiction film, the story is set in a high-tech building resembling a maze. Here, protagonist Ernst Mo competes against other alternate versions of herself in a delivery contest held in the building. Full of dramatic chasing through Hong Kong-inspired architecture and neon-drenched streets, the piece features digital cameos of objects from the M+ and Powerhouse Collection. This visually striking animated film explores society’s obsession with optimisation and efficiency through a mysterious annual competition.
