Lantau Island is Hong Kong’s largest outlying island, offering a perfect blend of nature, culture, and family-friendly attractions, all while catering to Muslim travellers. Whether you’re seeking spiritual serenity, thrilling adventures, or cultural discoveries, this two-day itinerary will allow you to discover the best of what Lantau has to offer with Halal dining and prayer facilities readily available to ensure a seamless travel experience.
Start your Lantau adventure with a ride on the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, where you’ll glide over lush mountains on your way to the island’s cultural heart. The journey is roughly 25 minutes and offers incredible views, especially if you opt for Crystal+, which offers 80 per cent more visibility to the surrounding landscape.
Once you’ve arrived, prepare to climb 268 steps to reach the towering Tian Tan Buddha, one of the largest outdoor Buddha statues in the world. It may seem like a trek, but after reaching the top, you’ll be rewarded with a sweeping view of the beautiful surrounding greenery.
Next to the Big Buddha, Po Lin Monastery is a peaceful retreat with beautiful traditional architecture and tranquil gardens. For lunch, the Po Lin Monastery Vegetarian Kitchen serves up seasonal vegetarian delicacies made with fresh ingredients, perfect for a mindful midday break. There’s also a snack shop next to the eatery, where you can try specialty bites like the popular homemade bean curd dessert.
Afterwards, it’s time to explore Ngong Ping Village. Discover attractions like the Cable Car Discovery Centre and the immersive Motion 360 theatre experience, take snaps at various photo spots such as the Ngong Ping Viewing Platform and themed murals, and shop around for some souvenirs before heading off. A prayer room is available upon request (15 minutes in advance) from the information centre at Ngong Ping Village.
For shoppers, Tung Chung’s Citygate Outlets shopping centre can be a delightful way to wrap up a day. From luxury fashion and sportswear to home essentials and kids’ toys, you can find something for everyone at fantastic prices. With more than 150 international brands offering year-round discounts, you can easily spend half a day here.

The resort’s year-long celebration, The Most Magical Party of All, launched on 28 June 2025, invites everyone to a day-to-night of fun. To start the party of the day, join Mickey and his friends, as well as the Disney Princesses, at the brand-new anniversary-only castle stage show ‘Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle!’, an electrifying concert-like show, followed by the largest-in-scale parade in the resort’s history, ‘Friendtastic!', where over 100 performers and 30 Disney friends will dance along the Main Street, U.S.A.
