이 사원은 원래 19세기 중반 중국 본토에서 온 석재 채석장 노동자들이 지은 사찰이다. 1900년대 초, 이 사원은 홍수 문제를 해결하고 생명을 구한 공로를 인정 받은 육웡을 기리는 작은 사찰로 발전했다.
