Once a popular street food dish from the 1950s to the 1960s, ‘doggie's noodles’ were a filling and affordable street food dish for those living on a tighter budget. Although it’s less popular today compared to other local street food specialities, you can sample the dish at Block 18 Doggie’s Noodle, which offers a taste of Hong Kong’s culinary heritage.

If you’re wondering where the dish gets its quirky name from, it’s because the short, stubby noodles resemble a dog’s tail. Every bowl of noodles served at Block 18 comes with plentiful toppings – mushrooms, spring onions, dried shrimp, garlic and preserved vegetables – to create flavourful bites. They also have other local favourites on their menu, such as imitation shark's fin soup with shredded duck, roasted duck and dace fish in soup, and roasted duck legs.
