The China Telecom Trophy Athletics (Marathon) Competition of the 15th National Games will be held on 15 November 2025. To facilitate the race, temporary control measures will be implemented at Shenzhen Bay Bridge, Kong Sham Western Highway and Ha Tsuen Interchange from 2am to about 11am on that day. This 150-square-kilometer area is home to some of Hong Kong's most stunning geological features. Many sites are spread out over two distinct regions: the sedimentary rock region in the northeast New Territories, and the volcanic rock region in Sai Kung, which is home to unique honeycomb-shaped acidic volcanic rock columns, formed by volcanic eruptions some 140 million years ago. There is also a multitude of beaches, islands, sea caves and even tombolos to explore.
Hong Kong Geopark became a member of the Global Geoparks Network in 2011 and renamed Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark in 2015.
