Manager, Mega Events Development & Advancement

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND LEARN?

  • Assist the Senior Manager in coordinating and managing both the Pilot Scheme for Characteristic Local Tourism Events 
  • (“Pilot Scheme”) and the support for sports and entertainment mega events, ensuring seamless operations and successful delivery of events that showcase Hong Kong's local characteristics and strengthen the destination position as the Events Capital of Asia.
  • Review and analyse funding applications for the Pilot Scheme, providing recommendations to the Evaluation Panel.
  • Assess and facilitate mega events to take root in Hong Kong, guiding and supporting their successful integration and sustainability in the local event landscape.
  • Spearhead logistics and operational arrangements, including venue selection and vendor management.
  • Provide guidance and support to event organisers to enhance the quality and appeal of events.
  • Monitor the progress of events, ensuring seamless coordination and overseeing their overall management. Collaborate closely with event organisers to ensure successful delivery and the achievement of predefined objectives and agreed targets.
  • Prepare relevant reports and documents to facilitate effective communication, including pre-event agreements and post-event evaluations.
  • Foster effective engagement and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to source market intelligence and explore potential collaborative efforts.
  • Support the development and implementation of marketing and promotional strategies, ensuring alignment with HKTB's objectives and the effective capitalisation of tourism merits.
  • Stay updated on global event trends, local regulations, and industry updates relevant to both the Pilot Scheme and mega events.
  • Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the support provided. identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for future iterations to enhance the support and optimise its outcomes.
  • Undertake any other duties/special assignments as directed by the supervisor.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • University graduate with a minimum of 8 years’ relevant working experience, preferably in funding schemes management, event management, marketing, public relations, business administration, or a related field
  • Experience in working with Government Departments and/or public organisations
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of organisation and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, external event organisers, and local community stakeholders
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Proactive team player able to work independently and under pressure, with a positive attitude and a curious mindset
