General Manager, Business Development

Location: Hong Kong 

WHO ARE WE?

We are seeking a driven professional to join our team as General Manager, Business Development. This role is responsible for driving strategic initiatives and cultivating strong partnerships with stakeholders to provide memorable experiences for visitors and further strengthen Hong Kong's tourism appeal on the global stage.
 

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND LEARN?

  • Initiate and cultivate partnership programs aligned with the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s strategic direction, leveraging synergies across various sectors, including travel trade, hospitality, retail, food & beverage, industry associations and chambers, as well as other relevant commercial sectors.
  • Establish and deepen strategic alliances with international and regional trade partners, proactively engaging multi-sector stakeholders to drive business development initiatives.
  • Design and implement targeted partnership initiatives that accelerate growth across diverse market segments, maximizing long-term value through joint promotions, campaigns, and collaborative platforms with industry leaders.
  • Lead the development and execution of the business partnership and marketing strategy, working in close collaboration with Worldwide Offices and local sector champions to deliver programs that elevate Hong Kong’s global positioning.
  • Empower local trade operators with market intelligence and foster cross-border collaboration.
  • Spearhead joint promotions with national and provincial tourism authorities to unlock multi-destination synergies.
  • Monitor global travel and consumer trends, providing strategic insights and recommendations to capture emerging market opportunities for expansion.
  • Champion service excellence through the Quality Tourism Services Scheme, reinforcing Hong Kong’s reputation for high standards and customer-centric experiences.
  • Oversee trade development budget and performance metrics, ensuring strategic alignment, operational efficiency, and measurable impact across all partnership initiatives.
     

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • University degree or above in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, with a proven track record in developing and managing strategic business partnerships across sectors such as retail, food & beverage, banking, industry associations, chambers, universities and other industries—with at least 5 years of experience in the travel trade sector.
  • Proven ability to engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including commercial entities, industry associations, and institutional partners, to bring along cross-sector collaboration opportunities.
  • Demonstrated success in forging and sustaining partnerships that drive business growth, brand visibility, and market expansion across local and international markets.
  • With prior experience in cross-border projects and dealing with Mainland officials or corporations is a plus 
  • Expertise in business development, strategic marketing, and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to navigate complex context and align development toward goals.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and passionate about advancing Hong Kong’s tourism industry.
  • Deep understanding of Destination Hong Kong, including tourism products, business development, and community dynamics.
