Are you ready? One of the most popular sporting events in Asia, the Hong Kong Sevens (HK7s), is set to take place from 5 to 7 April 2024 at the iconic Hong Kong Stadium for the last time!
Bringing together the world's top teams, the HK7s has created many memorable moments at the Stadium over the past 30 years. This year, in addition to the 12 men's and 12 women's international teams, the tournament will also feature the Melrose Shield competitions. In the men's competition, China, Japan, and the host team, Hong Kong China, will participate, while in the women's competition, China, Thailand, and Hong Kong China will compete.
Another highlight, of course, is the HK7s party and music performances. Various local and overseas performers including The Wailers, Journey's lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, Celine Tam, Hong Kong girl group Lolly Talk, and rugby star DJ James Haskell, will be present. Sports fans and music lovers should not miss it!

One of the fun things about the Hong Kong Sevens is dressing up! Be it something comical, glamorous, sexy, nerdy, scary, or a mix of the above, Pottinger Street in Central has all kinds of costumes and accessories to choose from. Devil horns, clown wigs, bodysuits and much more await! You’ll be spoilt for choice.
If playing dress-up isn’t your thing, throw on a casual shirt to support your favourite team. Sneakers Street, in Mong Kok, is home to rows of sportswear and footwear stores. Head here for a huge variety of sports gear, fitness apparel and sneakers. Be sure to visit The Forest, a trendy shopping mall that offers sports-related brands and products alongside eateries and cafes.
After the game, reward yourself with a cold, refreshing pint at Frites in Causeway Bay. With decor harking back to traditional 1920s Belgian beer halls, this is a great place to relax after the game, feast on a hearty meal, and gulp down an incredible selection of Belgian beers.
The ultimate party destination in Hong Kong is none other than Lan Kwai Fong, from bar crawling to nightclubs and low-key bars. After the thrilling match, unwind with like-minded pals or explore SoHo, another hotspot with trendy bars and restaurants. Remember to be mindful of your surroundings and any crowd control measures to party safely.
Most sports, like rugby, rely on teamwork. Enhance your teamwork skills and break a sweat at Crossfire Arena. Try Bubble Soccer, where players wear inflatable balls while trying to score a goal by colliding with other ball-clad players; Laser Tag, where you can manifest your shooter gameplay into a real-world battlefield; or Neon Sabre, for those who wish to live out their Star Wars fantasies and duel it out with neon sabres.
Even if you’re not going to catch the Rugby Sevens live at the Hong Kong Stadium, there will be plenty of sports bars in districts like Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai where you can follow the action or catch other live games. So, order up a pint and settle down to catch exciting sports events with other enthusiastic fans.
