  1. The East Dam area of High Island Reservoir is popular during the Dragon Boat Festival (Tuen Ng Festival) period. Plan your visit with the latest traffic updates, allow enough time for transportation and be patient with public transport. You can walk along the MacLehose Trail (Section 1) from Pak Tam Chung to East Dam or vice versa, which takes about 2.5 hours one way. For route details, please visit the AFCD’s website.
  2. To reach Po Pin Chau viewing platform, start at the trail head opposite to the East Dam 9A minibus stop and follow the High Island Geo Trail to the viewpoint, then return the same way. The round trip takes about 2 hours. For route details, visit the AFCD’s website.
  3. To safeguard the environment, there may not be refuse collection bins along the hiking trails, including at East Dam. Visitors are encouraged to take their litter away and avoid littering, as this may be liable to prosecution.
