On Sunday 11 January, Tai Mong Tsai Road and Sai Kung Man Yee Road in Sai Kung will be temporarily closed from 7:30am to 1:30pm for a marathon. During this time, vehicles will not be allowed entry and Green Minibus Route 9A to High Island Reservoir, East Dam will be suspended. Visitors can access East Dam on foot. Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums features the largest, most comprehensive and longest-running display of ancient Egyptian treasures in Hong Kong. The exhibition presents an extraordinary collection of 250 precious artefacts, including statues of pharaohs and deities, gold ornaments, large-scale coffins and animal mummies. The objects come from seven prominent museums in Egypt, including the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the Luxor Museum of Ancient Egyptian Art, as well as recent archaeological discoveries from Saqqara. All artefacts are displayed in Hong Kong for the first time, and many are exhibited outside Egypt for the first time, making this exhibition especially significant.
In addition, the Hong Kong Palace Museum will host a special Egyptian dance performance as part of the HKPM SHOWTIME! on 22 November and will support the 8th Hong Kong International Egyptian Dance Festival. The festival including Egyptian dance workshops, captivating performances, vibrant competitions and insightful presentations on global dance research.
