Cannabidiol (CBD) will be classified as a dangerous drug in Hong Kong from 1 February 2023. Products containing CBD will be prohibited under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, and offenders will be subject to a maximum penalty of imprisonment and a fine. Click here to find out more.

Starting from 29 December 2022, travellers are no longer required to undergo PCR tests after arriving in Hong Kong. They are free to enjoy the city, including dining at restaurants, visiting attractions, and more. Passengers transferring or transiting in Hong Kong (without passing through immigration control) are not required to present proof of a pre-departure nucleic acid test and follow the quarantine measures stated above. Visit the website of the Hong Kong International Airport for more details.

From 15 January 2023, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) West Kowloon Control Point and the XRL Hong Kong section will resume services. Meanwhile, the other seven operating boundary control points (BCPs) — Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port, Shenzhen Bay Control Point, China Ferry Terminal, Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line/Futian Control Point and Man Kam To Control Point — remain open with regular services. Certain BCPs allow only prescribed daily numbers of persons to pass through. The persons concerned are required to make bookings online (Chinese only) prior to travelling. Persons travelling between Hong Kong and the Mainland will also be required to undergo a PCR-based nucleic acid test within 48 hours with a negative result obtained before travelling. The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has launched the Anti-epidemic Hygiene Measures Certification Scheme in partnership with the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA). The scheme will raise awareness of epidemic prevention and provide unified guidelines on hygiene measures for tourism-related industries, aiming to bolster visitors’ confidence in travelling to Hong Kong.
