An architectural marvel blending tradition and modernity
Opened in 2019, the Xiqu Centre is a landmark on the Kowloon skyline, designed to evoke a glowing lantern behind a beaded curtain, celebrating Cantonese opera and Chinese theatre with a modern twist.

World-class performances in an immersive setting
The Grand Theatre, with over 1,000 seats, hosts high-quality traditional and contemporary Chinese opera (xiqu) performances from Hong Kong, Mainland China and the broader region. Equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and sound, it ensures an immersive experience.

Experience the heritage of Chinese traditional theatre
The intimate 200-seat Tea House Theatre is suitable for small-scale performances and regularly presents the Tea House Rising Stars Troupe, offering an engaging way to immerse in Hong Kong’s intangible cultural heritage. The experience includes a 90-minute Cantonese opera performance where audiences are also served traditional tea and dim sum – a delicious way to learn about the heritage of Chinese traditional theatre.

Delve into the essence of Xiqu
More than a performance venue, the Xiqu Centre promotes and preserves Chinese theatre and Cantonese opera traditions. Its fluid facade reflects the artistry of xiqu performances. Guided tours in Cantonese, English or Mandarin give insights into the history, architecture and cultural significance of performances and the behind-the-scenes artistry and technical aspects.
