A global museum in West Kowloon
M+ is Asia’s global museum of contemporary visual culture, dedicated to collecting, exhibiting and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image and Hong Kong visual culture of the 20th and 21st centuries.
A diverse collection spanning decades
M+ manages a multidisciplinary collection of works by artists, makers, designers and architects from Asia and beyond. Exhibitions showcase developments in visual culture from the 1950s to today, offering a unique Hong Kong perspective within a global vision.
Exploring visual culture in all forms
The M+ Collections include paintings, sculptures and ink art, installations and digital media. The M+ Sigg Collection is one of the world’s most extensive collections of Chinese contemporary art, with Hong Kong visual culture at its core, linking various curatorial themes.
Thematic exhibitions featuring significant global icons
M+ regularly curates exhibitions that highlight significant figures and moments in the history of art and visual culture in Asia. Notable past critically acclaimed special exhibitions include Yayoi Kusama: 1945 to Now and I. M. Pei: Life Is Architecture.
A landmark of contemporary architecture
The building, designed by Herzog & de Meuron in partnership with TFP Farrells and Arup, spans 65,000 square metres and includes 33 galleries, a learning hub, moving image centre, research centre and roof garden.
M+ facade: one of the largest media facades in the world for moving image
Facing Victoria Harbour, the M+ Facade is one of the largest media facades globally, thousands of LEDs that create dynamic displays, engaging thousands of onlookers each night.
M+ Cinema: a hub for moving images
A centrepiece of M+’s Moving Image Centre, M+ Cinema presents cross-disciplinary programmes of feature films, documentaries, experimental cinema, video art, restored classics and rare films, enriching the audience’s appreciation of visual culture.
Public programmes and rooftop views
M+ offers a dynamic calendar of public programmes and events, including artist talks, film screenings, workshops and guided tours, to deepen engagement with contemporary visual culture. A roof garden for breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour.
