When the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club built its first headquarters on Oil Street in 1908, the Arts and Crafts style complex was located on the shore of Victoria Harbour — as you might expect. With the ever-changing shoreline of Hong Kong, the historic clubhouse now sits a few hundred metres inland, while the yacht club was moved elsewhere long ago. The red-bricked Grade II historic building got a new lease of life in 2013 as an art oasis in the city called Oi!. Its new extension, opened to the public in 2022, provides a public open space of over 3,000 square metres that can house large-scale outdoor art installations. The new space also features a new two-storey building, incorporating exhibition and multipurpose venues.
