Located at Xianglu Bay along Lover’s Road in the downtown area, the Statue of Fisher Girl is a symbol of Zhuhai. A masterpiece of China’s renowned sculptor inspired by a local fairy tale, it is an iconic Zhuhai landmark that cannot be missed.
The legend of the Fisher Girl holds that she was originally a sea fairy and daughter of the southern Sea Dragon King. After coming ashore near Zhuhai, she fell in love with this beautiful coastal city and a charming kind-hearted local fisherman. Even though the young couple’s relationship was sabotaged by a jealous dwarf, resulting in misfortune befalling the sea fairy, the heartbroken fisherman didn’t give up and finally found a way to bring the dead fairy back to life. The Sea Dragon King gifted the giant pearl that the Fisher Girl holds as a token of the love between the fisherman and the Fisher Girl.
