Go Back in Time – Hong Kong’s Walled Villages

Hong Kong Walled Village

Discover Hong Kong's ancient past within its walled villages.

While being a fast paced cosmopolitan city, Hong Kong is rich with beauty and culture. Back before the city’s financial institutions dominated downtown, Hong Kong was a series of markets and small communities subsisting on the land, living inside walled villages. You don’t need to travel far away from Hong Kong city centre to discover that traditional life still exists behind these walls.

Take the venture back in time and visit the walled villages where you will find that some of the old ancient traditions still exist among these modest communities. The Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail even brings visitors along the original ancient wall and allows you to see the protected entranceways that are sealed off to protect the villagers’ privacy.
