Dragon and Lion Dance Extravaganza

Dragon and Lion Dance Extravaganza

China has been enchanted by powerful animals and mythological creatures for centuries, with its people casting the almighty lion and fierce dragon in their dance rituals since ancient times.

These age-old traditions bring colour and noise to modern Hong Kong, and nowadays they’re performed for everything from festivals to celebrating the opening of a new business.

But what’s even more impressive is that Asia’s world city also calls home to the planet’s biggest lion and dragon dance. Each year, the city steps aside to make way for large-scale dragon and lion dances, lion-making craft workshops and other traditional performances.

This event received Mega Events Fund support in 2013.

1 January 2014
Parade starts from Canton Road along Hong Kong Cultural Centre and Avenue of Stars and finishes at UC Centenary Garden, East Tsim Sha Tsui
