The Hong Kong Mid-Autumn Festival is on the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the Chinese Lunar calendar. It is one of the most charming and colourful annual events that celebrates, among other things, harvest time with the biggest and brightest moon of the year. During the festival, people eat sweet cake, called a 'Moon Cake', that's made of ground lotus and sesame seed paste, egg-yolk and other ingredients. Along with the cakes, shops sell coloured Chinese paper lanterns in the shapes of animals, fruits and planes. Families usually go outside to high vantage points to watch the full moon and light their lanterns.
