Guangdong
Guangdong is the natural hinterland of Hong Kong and Macau across the estuary. Guangzhou, the provincial capital is one of China’s earliest trading ports opened to western trade. Shenzhen was the first Special Economic Zone in China to be opened to free trade in 1979. Zhuhai is the garden city by the coast and Jiangmen is famous for its Kaiping diaolou (fortress villages) clusters (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Shaoguan is famous for Danxia Mountain, which is the world natural heritage. The province is rich in history, culture and nature, making it an exciting destination to appreciated Chinese culture and natural scenery.
