Spectacular festive illuminations, fabulous sales and fantastic dining promotions ensured that the annual Hong Kong WinterFest which concluded on 1 January 2008, was a celebration of the winter season like no other – turning Asia's world city into a sparkling winter jewel full of happiness and warmth.
The three key districts of Central, Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui offered a glittering array of exciting events and activities. Every day, street performers had the crowds cheering their lively performances at local shopping malls and various restaurants around town.
This annual festival also featured winter sales and special treats for shoppers, while diners enjoyed great deals on tasty seasonal dishes.
Both visitors and locals could join a number of festive night harbour tours to take in all the magic of the myriad of illuminations as city skyscrapers on both sides of the harbour were dressed in a dazzling galaxy of colourful lights and themed decorations that covered the facades of buildings.
The climax of the festivities was the stunning New Year's Eve spectacular "A Symphony of Lights – New Year Countdown" in which the city's tallest skyscraper, Two ifc, was featured in an eye-popping pyrotechnic extravaganza that will long be remembered. Be sure you're in Hong Kong at 2008!
