Attractions
As the capital of Sichuan, China's largest province, Chengdu's history stretches back several thousand years. Historic places of interest consist of the Thatched Cottage of Du Fu, Wuhou Memorial Temple and Wenshu Monastery. Chengdu is also home to many giant pandas. You may visit the lovely pandas at the Giant Panda Breeding Center and Research Base.

Nearby Leshan is home to the archeologically amazing Giant Buddha, carved diligently out of a cliff. This renowned Buddha features a bizarre attraction - a big toe that can accommodate up to five people!
Nature Lovers
Sitting at the upper reaches of the mighty Yangtse River, Sichuan is renowned largely for its beautiful scenery. Around Chengdu are the notable scenic areas, Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area and Huang Long Valley (Yellow Dragon Valley). Both were declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1992.

Nature lovers can try climbing Emei mountain to catch a glimpse of the four spectacular views on the Golden Summit. They are clouds sea, sunrise, Buddha rays and Saint Lamps. For a less rigorous option, climb Qingcheng Shan. Along the path, will see many Taoist temples on the holy Taoist mountain. In addition, there are many hot springs in the city.
Food
Sichuan cuisine got a reputation for being hot and spicy. Some of the well-known dishes are Kung Pao chicken, MaPo Do Fu, duck stuffed with bean curd, twice-cooked pork with chili sauce and Dan Dan noodle.
