hotels provide international direct dial services. Local calls
from public telephones usually cost HK$1 for five minutes and
calls can be paid by phone card or coins. Phone cards are available
from retail stores of telephone companies and convenience stores.
The cards usually have values of HK$50, and $100. Multilingual
phone card instructions are usually posted on public telephones.

/ 1088 (Putonghua).
Almost everyone in Hong Kong has a mobile phone. Join the crowd
by renting a mobile phone at the Hong Kong International Airport.
If you own a mobile phone, you can buy pre-paid SIM cards with
a local number and set amount of service minutes from retail
stores of telephone companies and convenience stores. These
cards are compatible with tri-band and dual-band phones. You
might also have roaming service from your telephone service
provider. Mobile phones using GSM 900, PCS 1800, CDMA and WCDMA
can be used in Hong Kong. |
