For
those who like to keep fit, Hong Kong offers several jogging
paths where you can enjoy the outdoors and a relaxed, green
environment; all in the urban areas. Try for an early morning
run. It's a chance to see local people, young and old, practising
the Chinese martial art of tai chi. |

Situated
beside Hong Kong's financial district, Hong Kong Park in Admiralty
is an easily reached refuge from city life. This eight-hectare
park, located behind Pacific Place shopping mall, has walking
paths that can be used for an early morning run. As you jog
through the park, you'll pass a pond filled with large colourful
goldfish, landscaped gardens, an aviary and waterfalls.
Look and listen, but it's wise to avoid contact with the birds.

Hong
Kong Island - The
Peak Circle Walk |
| This
path high above the harbour is a great way to combine a workout
with sightseeing. Starting from The Peak Tower, you can run
along the cliff-side Lugard Road that overlooks the skyscrapers
of Central, Victoria Harbour and the Kowloon Peninsula. The
view is spectacular. As you round the mountain, Lugard Road
turns into Harlech Road and the view changes from urban to rural.
Below is a green valley and reservoir. In the distance lie outlying
islands and the South China Sea. After 3.5 kilometres, you're
back where you started. Ready for another lap? |
