Hong Kong WinterFest

For a unique spin on Christmas festivities nothing beats Hong Kong, where long-held Western traditions mix with the Eastern love of festivals for a cosmopolitan holiday experience.

Known as Hong Kong WinterFest, the 2012/13 celebrations were as memorable as ever. Statue Square received a festive Tiffany & Co. makeover. The rest of the city got dressed up in its best Christmas finery too, with beautiful decorations adorning skyscrapers and thoroughfares across town.

Not to be outdone, shopping malls entertained shoppers with carollers, Christmas villages, winter sales and other festivities, while restaurants served up tempting holiday menus. And, to end on a high note, Hong Kong welcomed 2013 with a spectacular pyrotechnics display over the beautiful Victoria Harbour.

This year, Asia’s world city will again offer travellers a Christmas experience like no other. Stay tuned for details!

Did you know?

In 2009, Hong Kong native Jim Chan won what’s known as the Santa Claus Winter Games. After qualifying rounds in 50 countries and regions, the world’s best Santa Claus performers head to Gallivare in Sweden for a spectacular showdown, which includes an intense competition across five events: kick sledding, reindeer racing, porridge eating, chimney climbing and present wrapping. Chan outperformed his rivals in both porridge eating and present wrapping, winning him the coveted title.

A Brilliant Tiffany Holiday

For the 2012/13 holiday season, Statue Square was transformed into a Tiffany Christmas wonderland to continue the tradition of spreading love! Bathed in the brand’s signature Tiffany Blue hue, this Central landmark was infused with the spirit of Christmas. The centrepiece of this brilliant event was an 18-metre-tall Christmas tree complete with festive touches and an enchanting fairytale-inspired 24-seat carousel. Other festive activities included a Santa’s House, Bridge of True Love, Tiffany Funland and Tiffany Candy Shop.
