Wish Upon a Star

Make a wish upon a pyrotechnic star and get your new year off to a great start. Beginning at 11pm at 15-minute intervals, rooftops around the harbour will emit a series of ‘shooting stars’. So, when you see them, make a wish and it just might come true!

Musical Fireworks

As the hour strikes, watch as the brilliant 2019 display illuminates the iconic harbour, with fireworks and special effects lighting up the layers of the city’s skyline.

Along the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, including Hong Kong Cultural Centre Open Piazza and Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade

 How to get there
  • MTR East Tsim Sha Tsui Station Exit L6 or J, or MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Station Exit E, and follow the signs to Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Or MTR East Tsim Sha Tsui Station Exit P1, and walk across Salisbury Road to the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade. It’s about a 15-minute walk.

Hong Kong Island

The Central Harbourfront area, including Central Piers 9 & 10

 How to get there
  • MTR Central Station, Exit A, turn right and take the covered walkway to the Star Ferry Pier and turn right to the promenade. It’s about a 15-minute walk.
  • MTR Hong Kong Station, Exit A2. Walk through ifc mall to Central Piers. It’s about a 10-minute walk.

Golden Bauhinia Square, Wan Chai

 How to get there
  • MTR Wan Chai Station, Exit A5. Follow the signs to Golden Bauhinia Square via the covered walkway. It’s about a 15-minute walk.

Remarks: As extensive road closures in the Tsim Sha Tsui area are anticipated from 8pm onwards on the day of the event, visitors are advised to arrive at the above spots early. Please visit the Transport Department website at for details.
