Accessible Travel

Barrier-free travel is now widely available in Hong Kong and visitors with disabilities can enjoy pleasant and hassle-free stays. There is a range of accessible accommodation, activities, attractions and services, as well as convenient ways of getting around the city.

 

Check out the following links for resources available for people with disabilities who are planning a trip to Hong Kong.


GETTING AROUND

Accessible taxi and coach services:

  • Diamond Cab: Accommodates a maximum of two wheelchair users on a single trip with two carers, or one wheelchair user with up to four passengers.
  • SynCab:
    - e-Multi-Purpose Taxi (e-MPT): Accommodates a maximum of one wheelchair user on a single trip with three carers, or five passengers without wheelchairs.
    - Multi-Purpose Taxi (MPT): Accommodates a maximum of one wheelchair user on a single trip with two carers, or four passengers without wheelchairs.
  • Hire vehicles: The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation provides accessible car, coach and Rehabus hire services. Please make your reservation in advance before you arrive in Hong Kong.

The Transport Department provides a handy downloadable guide to public transport for people with disabilities, as well as information about parking and pedestrian crossing facilities for the visually impaired.

 

SEE AND DO

The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation has published 'A Visitor’s Guide to Accessible Facilities in Hong Kong', which provides comprehensive information about accessible facilities in Hong Kong including hotels, attractions, shopping and dining etc.

Besides, the Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth has produced the ‘Barrier-free Travel Guide’ website, which introduces various hot tour routes of Hong Kong, which cater to the travelling needs for the mobility impaired and physically handicapped.
