- The Hong Kong International Airport passenger
terminal building was the world's largest airport
terminal in 1998, according to Guinness World Records. The
building is 1.3 kilometres long and covers an area of 550,000 square
metres.

- The Hong Kong International Airport, together
with its related infrastructure - the Airport Core Programme - was voted
one of the Top Ten Construction Achievements
of the 20th Century in March 1999 at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG'99,
a construction, aggregates and ready-mixed concrete industries trade
show held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
- The Tsing Ma Bridge, with a main span of 1,377
metres (4,518 feet) and a length of 2.2 kilometres, forms part of Lantau
Island's first "fixed crossing" to mainland Kowloon, and is
the world's longest span suspension bridge
carrying both road and rail traffic, according to Guinness
World Records. The magnificent bridge has won international acclaim,
including the prestigious British Construction Industry Supreme Award
in May 1997.

- At 1,177 metres long, Ting Kau Bridge is ranked
one of the world's longest and largest three-tower,
cable-stayed bridges.
- The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre
and its extension are among the world's and
Asia's largest exhibition and convention facilities. The
new addition of the HK$4.8 billion (US$615 million) extension, opened
in 1997, not only more than doubled its size but has also given the
coastline of Hong Kong Island a distinctive landmark.
- Since 1996, a container freight station at Kwai
Chung owned by Asia Terminals Ltd has been continuously recognised by
Guinness World Records as the world's
largest multi-level industrial building that is one discrete
structure. A 15-level, 109.5 metre-tall building, the freight station
provides a total of 865,937 square metres of space.

- The Central-Mid-Levels Escalator and Walkway
System in Hong Kong is the world's longest
covered escalator system, according to Guinness
World Records. The system, consisting of covered walkways,
20 reversible one-way escalators and three travelators, has the
capacity to accommodate 210,600 passengers a day, and helps residents
and visitors alike to make the 800-metre journey from Central
to Mid-Levels, or vice versa, on a toll-free basis.
