Hong Kong Sevens was celebrated with all the excitement, brilliant rugby and party fanfare that have made this one of the most celebrated sporting events in the world. From its humble beginnings in 1976, the Hong Kong event has pioneered the rugby sevens game to an internationally recognised phenomenon that attracts teams from the 24 world's top rugby nations who compete for three different trophies. Fans from all corners of the globe pack the 40,000-seat Hong Kong stadium.

In Hong Kong Sevens 2009 which ended on 29 March 2009, Fiji won a gruelling final 26-24 to clinch a famous victory against South Africa and claimed the first Hong Kong title, sparking jubilant scenes of celebration for Fiji's players and fans.

Tonga broke Canadian hearts by scoring a try with the last play of the match, and kicked the conversion to win 14-12 and take the Plate title. Portugal beat off the fine challenge of Uruguay to win the Bowl trophy, 14-12.

Hong Kong will roll out the red carpet again for the Hong Kong Sevens teams and supporters in March 2010. For three action-packed days, Asia's world city is going to rock and roll all day and all night as the world's top Sevens teams vie to be the new champion.
Building on the great success of previous tournaments, all indications are that the 2010 event will be the biggest and best yet. So, start making plans to visit Hong Kong to join the international rugby fraternity in "rugby heaven" in March 2010!
