The Birthday of Lord Buddha is a celebration marked with great reverence in Hong Kong's Buddhist temples.

Worshippers show their devotion throughout the day by bathing a small Buddha statue. Celebrations centre around the major monasteries in Hong Kong including the Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island, home to the Giant Buddha which draws the biggest crowds. Visitors can participate in the bathing ceremony and enjoy a sumptuous Chinese vegetarian meal at the monastery.
