Reputed
to be the Culinary Capital of Asia, Hong Kong showcases the signature
cooking skills of its chefs through an annual Best of the Best Culinary
Awards (BOB) competition run by the Hong Kong.
Tourism Board (HKTB). Co-organised
by the Hong Kong and China Gas Company Ltd (Towngas) and supported
by the Chinese Cuisine Training Institute as venue sponsor, the
contest encourages creative cooking and excellence among Hong
Kong restaurants, as well as catering to global dining trends
and visitors' tastes.
Every year, different dish categories are chosen to highlight the diversity of Chinese cuisine. The categories for the 2006 Awards were: Steamed, Stir-Fried, Sweet & Sour and Seafood and Vegetable.
The four categories attracted a total of 436 entries to the preliminary
competition, out of which 44 dishes made it to the finals on 9 and 10
October. A select panel of renowned international gourmets and local celebrities
judged the entries and awarded "Gold with Distinction", "Gold" or "Silver" awards
in each of the four dish categories.
Diners
can still sample virtually all the dishes that have won Gold
with Distinction and Gold Awards since HKTB launched the
competition in 2001. Just click on the button to take a gourmet
