As Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), Dr Peter Lam is responsible for leading the organisation in actively promoting Hong Kong as a world-class travel destination around the world, with a view to maximising the benefits of tourism to the Hong Kong economy and community at large. Prior to his appointment as HKTB Chairman, Dr Lam served on the Board of Directors of the organisation for six years, and as Chairman of the Board’s Event and Product Committee since 2009.
In addition to his involvement with the HKTB, Dr Lam has been very active in fostering the development of the local film industry. He is currently Chairman of the Entertainment Industry Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Board Member of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society, Chairman of the Hong Kong Chamber of Films, and Honorary Chairman of the Hong Kong Motion Picture Industry Association. In recognition of his contribution, he was honoured as Producer of the Year in 2009 by CineAsia, and conferred an Honorary Doctorate of the Academy in 2011 by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Dr Lam also has dedicated himself to other public services. He is appointed a Trustee of the Better Hong Kong Foundation; Member of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Vice-chairperson of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese; Standing Committee Member of the China Friendship Association of Cultural Circles; and Member of the Hong Kong-Taiwan Business Co-operation Committee. He is also Director of the Hong Kong-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Counsellor of the China-United States Exchange Foundation.
In addition, Dr Lam has extensive experience in the commercial sector. Currently, he is Chairman of Lai Sun Group, Chairman and Executive Director of Media Asia Group Holdings Limited, Deputy Chairman of Lai Sun Garment (International) Limited, Executive Director of eSun Holdings Limited and Crocodile Garments Limited, and Director of the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong.
