Guangdong Province is situated at the southernmost tip of Mainland China adjacent to Hong Kong and Macau. It has a number of unique characteristics which set it apart from the rest of China including: dialects and customs, history and culture. It boasts three sub-ethnic groups which are distinctly different from those found further north around Beijing. In recent years, Guangdong has developed into the country’s most prosperous province. Thanks to its Lingnan (southern China) culture, Guangdong possesses unique historical, natural and cultural characteristics, making it an ideal tourist destination.
Guangdong enjoys warm and green spring-like seasons, filled with blooming flowers and verdant plants all year around. It has delightful natural scenery featuring mountains and rivers, setting off Lingnan’s unique and mysterious charms. There are four famous mountains in Guangdong: Mt Danxia, Mt Xiqiao, Mt Luofu and Mt Dinghu, delicately dotted with the Seven Star Crags and Yingxi Peak Forest, etc, all of which help the area emanate an aura of romantic charm. The Pearl River Delta Area is crisscrossed with rivers and lakes, its coastline extends thousands of miles and Wanlu Lake, which is rich in natural resources, add a magical touch to the beautiful scenery of Guangdong.
Guangdong is also a paradise for vacation tourism with hot springs scattered around the province where tourists can relax and take part in a variety of recreational activities. There are plenty of golf courses as well as romantic and exotic beaches.
The province’s new tourist attractions offer endless excitement for visitors. The Overseas Chinese Town (OCT) located in Shenzhen draws city people back to nature; the Guangzhou Chime-Long Paradise, the largest amusement park in China, offers tourists an unforgettable experience. In addition, there are various eco-tourism attractions such as the Mt Danxia, World Geopark, the Kaiping Watchtowers and Village, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which never fail to fascinate visitors.
