Former French Mission Building

Former French Mission Building

Built by the Mission Etrangères de Paris in 1917 on the foundation of a previous structure, the building’s granite and red brick structure is typical of the neo-classical style of architecture popular during the Edwardian period (1901-10). The French Mission sold it back to the Government in 1953 and it has since been used for a variety of purposes including as the headquarters of the Education Department, the District Court, the Supreme Court and the Information Services Department.

The Former French Mission Building is now a Declared Monument.
