Turn your Hong Kong transit stop into a fascinating and fun-filled experience by taking a journey to Ngong Ping 360 - Hong Kong's spectacular tourism experience that involves a stunning cable car ride up a mountain to Ngong Ping plateau at about 500 metres above sea level and access to Ngong Ping Village and the Giant Buddha (Tian Tan Buddha Statue), set amid the rural splendour of Lantau Island.
This amazing journey begins at Tung Chung, next to the airport, where you board the Ngong Ping Cable Car on a 5.7-kilometre ride up the mountain to Ngong Ping plateau. Along the way, you'll have 25 minutes to enjoy 360-degree panoramic views covering the South China Sea, Hong Kong International Airport, the flora and fauna of Lantau Country Park, and finally the awesome Giant Buddha, the world's tallest outdoor seated bronze statue.
Disembarking at the Ngong Ping terminal, you will be enchanted by the traditional Chinese architecture of Ngong Ping Village, where you can enjoy (for an additional fee) two themed attractions - Walking with Buddha, that traces Siddhartha Gautama's journey to enlightenment and subsequent teachings, and Monkey's Tale Theatre, a charming and amusing animated fable. You can also learn all about tea and the art of tea making at the Ngong Ping Tea House, as well as check out the interesting shops and dining options around the village.
You will want to find time to take a closer look at the Giant Buddha and visit Po Lin Monastery nearby. And only a short walk away is the Wisdom Path, an ancient prayer inscribed on a series of wooden columns. The tour concludes with a return journey on the cable car, before returning to the airport to catch your flight.
