Art is for everyone and Hong Kong is a true artistic hub with diversified genres showcasing top quality international art fairs and performances.
Featuring 166 performances within the disciplines of opera, music, theatre and dance in 32 days, the 47th edition of the Hong Kong Arts Festival comes alive with the theme “At Every Stage”. The Festival also features 15 new productions and 16 Asian premieres. Adding to the list of great performances, Festival PLUS extends the audience experience with an exciting array of filming, master classes, workshops, meet-the-artist sessions and backstage tours.

Performing Society: The Violence of Gender
This group exhibition with international, regional and local artists probes the nature of violence over the contested terrain of gender. Located at the eastern edge of the West Kowloon Cultural District, the Xiqu Centre is Hong Kong’s new venue for Cantonese opera and other forms of Chinese traditional theatre (xiqu). The two-theatre venue offers world-class performances for xiqu lovers and an intimate experience that is perfect for those new to the art form.
Constructing the Xiqu Centre Exhibition and Music in the Atrium
The exhibition of photographs by Ducky Tse marks the opening of the Xiqu Centre. Documenting the eight-year development process, it reveals the beauty of the architectural design. The Atrium also hosts regular performances of traditional Chinese music presented by invited professional troupes. The programme features a range of regional styles and showcases the versatility of traditional wind, string and percussion instruments.

Tea House Theatre Experience
Presented by the Tea House Rising Stars Troupe, this 90-minute narrated performance is specially designed to introduce new audiences to Chinese traditional theatre. To recreate the atmosphere of Hong Kong’s early 20th century tea houses, audiences are served traditional tea and dim sum during the show.
